Who We Are

The Project
The "PowerCO2" flagship initiative is one of ten key targeted projects under the SPLEEN PEPR (Priority Research Program) for industrial decarbonization. Operating within the "CO₂ Storage and Valorization" pillar, Power CO2 centers on three fundamental scientific challenges essential for converting CO₂ and seamlessly integrating renewable energy sources:
-
Challenge 1: Maximizing carbon and electron efficiency in e-fuel production.
-
Challenge 2: Harnessing the full solar spectrum to transform CO₂ into solar fuels.
-
Challenge 3: Unlocking novel CO₂ reaction pathways through unconventional activation methods.
The Contributors
Built around a core of pioneering scientists with an outstanding track record in CO₂ conversion, the consortium is structured across 19 interconnected sub-projects.
This collaborative network brings together extensive institutional expertise and a deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent:
-
Collaborative Scale: The initiative unites 26 research teams across 23 laboratories, spanning 8 premier research institutions.
-
Talent Pipeline: Throughout the project's lifespan, 41 early-career researchers—comprising 15 PhD candidates and 26 postdoctoral fellows—will receive advanced training in this strategically vital, high-impact societal domain.
