The POWER CO₂ Days! | September 7–9, 2026 | Lyon, France

Day 3: Hybrid Pathways

Hybrid approaches combining electrochemical conversion and biological processes is a strategy in CO₂ valorization. We are excited to welcome Isabelle Rougeaux as a Keynote Speaker to present her team's research, co-authored with Yassine Naciri and Gatien Fleury on the POWERCO2 project!

In this project, carbon-based molecules generated via CO₂ electroreduction are utilized as complementary substrates to support microalgae growth under various metabolic conditions. This strategy aims to exploit the synergies between electrochemical carbon conversion and biological assimilation pathways, ultimately enhancing both CO₂ utilization efficiency and biomass production.

During her Keynote, Isabelle will outline the overall concept of the project and discuss a critical factor for its success: the precise compatibility between electrochemical operating conditions, the resulting carbon intermediates, and microalgal growth requirements.

Don't miss this opportunity to explore recent developments in CO₂ electroreduction and the future perspectives of coupling electrochemical systems with microalgae cultivation.
